There is so much beauty, potential, and innovative engineering in the stuff that surrounds us.
Pink Bag Proj. is a creative art-lab and interactive mini-museum that delves into the potential of these objects, the value of the things that as a society we are overlooking, and the stuff that we are dismissing.
It showcases responses already made by Artists and non-Artists which will prompt you to think and explore more about the bigger ideas about ‘stuff’, through interactive artworks and activities for all ages. The project is in constant flux which means what you make in the space will become part of it too!
What do these objects mean to us? Why do we overlook them? Can we, through art, alter our perception of their value? And as such change collective thinking...?
Through experimentation, exploration, play, documentation and simply noticing a disposable pink coffee bag we can begin to understand the inherent value and wonder that this overlooked packaging has.

101 Non-consecutive Days as a Magpie
In this workshop the artist Jenny Alderton will guide you through an exploration of the debris and materiality within our consumerist throwaway society.
Explore the world of discarded items and debris we overlook daily. After a short walk to find a chosen discarded item, we will then engage and reimagine this item from debris to a potential art object with its own accompanying booklet. Through engaging in creative prompts, we can reimagine and see the item in new ways. Through fact-based prompts we can uncover information about the item. Using this we will create a unique booklet dedicated solely to this discarded item.
Through this workshop I hope to question what rubbish is, what art objects can be and if the two overlap. I also seek to explore the disconnect our capitalist society has with the things - especially single or few-use items - it produces, consumes, and readily discards.

Then again you might be disappointed to find out that this workshop is about just a plastic bag.
Come along to this informal plastic bag designing workshop* that gives us an opportunity to think and discuss the ways in which we are being sold to on a day to day basis. What intrinsic desires are being used against us? What do we really want and need? Why is a box full of 50p Swedish plastic kitchen implements strangely appealing? …and other such questions.

Karen Woodfield, the artist, invites you to play their latest game:
‘Making Art: The Game - Pink Bag Proj. Expansion Pack’.
In this game, players become open-minded artists who are willing to experiment and challenge themselves. You will be prompted to create 3D art pieces using a variety of materials and techniques. The game offers a limitless and open-ended experience, with various combinations and strange convergences to challenge your ideas about art and games. There are no winners or losers in this game; it’s the artist against the game. You can create multiple pieces that can become a part of the exhibition, or you can take them home.
This game is open to anyone aged 16 and above.
