In recent years, doodle art has become increasingly popular, largely due to its ability to amuse, delight, and inspire viewers of all ages, even those without an understanding of art or art making.
One also doesn’t need to have a formal art education, or even basic drawing skills, to doodle – everyone can doodle!
Thus doodling is highly accessible for anyone who wishes to express themselves through art.
“The Art of the Doodle” invites you to explore ways in which doodling can become a part of your life, even if you don’t consider yourself an “artist”.
The exhibition showcases ten artists, whose work and practice have been inspired or influenced by doodling in different ways.
You’ll discover how doodling has allowed these artists to express themselves in a variety of styles and media.
You’ll see how a simple idea – in the form of a squiggle or shape – can evolve into more complex artworks.
You’ll learn how doodling has helped some artists through their personal struggles, and developed their artistic voice or style today.
These works demonstrate just a small number of the endless possibilities that can evolve from a simple doodle.
You’re also welcome to express yourself by making your mark on our Community Doodle Wall. Feel free to draw inspiration from your life, your surroundings, and other people’s doodles. And just have fun with it!!
Happy doodling!
