Good Soup is an exploration the ecology of the River Avon and other rivers through the lens of their foraging ecosystems. Through creative engagement, it celebrates the seasonality and locality of natural resources while emphasising the shared responsibility of sustaining these ecosystems.
We are seeking artists whose practice is deeply intertwined with foraging and cooking, or who have a special interest in riverine ecosystems, particularly the River Avon. We are particularly interested in projects across public participation which may include, but are not limited to sensory foraging walks, plant storytelling workshops, and community cooking sessions, culminating in a communal meal featuring seasonal ingredients crafted collaboratively into recipes by participating artists.

Nia (they/them) is a writer and researcher based in London, interested in themes of political ecology, queer theory and new ecologies emerging in the Anthropocene.
Working across writing, curatorial research and digital design, they are interested in exploring new ways of co-existing between human and non-human living beings and the role of public participation in fostering that vision. They are currently pursuing a Master’s in Research at the Royal College of Art, with a particular focus on the riverine landscapes of the Thames.
This is their second year with Fringe Arts Bath, having curated Wilderness Commons in 2024.
