Cardiff Umbrella would like to use this opportunity to invite and showcase the work of marginalised Welsh and Wales-based Artists (prioritising the work of POC, LGBTQ+ and disabled Artists), with the aim of showcasing work from communities that wouldn’t usually be visible in Bath.
We intend on reaching out to, working with, and platforming several specific organisations based in Wales, that engage with and are run by members of these marginalised communities.
By creating a safe space for key members of these well-established (yet often distanced communities) to curate alongside one another, these organisations will have a place to build meaningful connections and explore relationships between each other’s work and practices.
We hope to gather artwork from a broad spectrum of disciplines (such as sculpture, painting, installation, photography, performance and textiles) in a cohesive and exciting contemporary art exhibition.
Curated by Umbrella : Paisley Randell, Robert OroS
Umbrella is a Cardiff-based Art collective. We are Artist-led, community focussed and socially driven; offering a space that aims to contribute positively to the local community, practising an open-door policy, hosting exhibitions, workshops, skill-sharing events and residencies.
Our ethos 'Art For All' is in our everyday actions and efforts, and we hope to connect our audience with other important communities in Wales. We are an active, diverse and creative space for emerging Artists, facilitating the development of creative practices. We recognise the value in learning from each other and sharing knowledge, skills and experience.
