In this workshop the Artist Jenny Alderton will guide you through an exploration of the debris and materiality within our consumerist throwaway society.
Explore the world of discarded items and debris we overlook daily. After a short walk to find a chosen discarded item, we will then engage and reimagine this item from debris to a potential art object with its own accompanying booklet. Through engaging in creative prompts, we can reimagine and see the item in new ways. Through fact-based prompts we can uncover information about the item. Using this we will create a unique booklet dedicated solely to this discarded item.
Through this workshop I hope to question what rubbish is, what art objects can be and if the two overlap. I also seek to explore the disconnect our capitalist society has with the things - especially single or few-use items - it produces, consumes, and readily discards.
