MEMORIAL
The poet Rosie Jackson and artist Geoff Dunlop present installations reflecting on death, remembrance and renewal in a time of lockdown and beyond. They have conceived this Memorial to be temporary and light. Instead of bearing the weight of history and stone it will take the form of a set of translucent cotton prints - half carrying images and half carrying poems.
Geoff says: “We are offering an opportunity for a moment or two of contemplation, not only about the pandemic and its consequences but about those confusing, contradictory thoughts and feelings that poetry can help us address … the eternal themes of love, loss and death.”
Memorial will be found at two different locations in Bath, and the images and poems on display will change from time to time. After Bath, the installations will pop up in different locations around the South-West. Because the cotton prints can be rolled into a tube and the hangings are easy to set up, the installations will travel easily. And because the images and texts are machine printed, they can be quickly reproduced.
Venue: in the window of 94-96 Walcot Street, Bath BA1 5BW, available 24/7.
