Selection:

Selection will comprise a two-stage process. To be considered as a participating artist please ensure you have read all the project info (above and below) and submit a brief explanation of interest alongside an artist statement and images contextualizing your practice. Alternatively provide a link to your website.

Applications will be considered in accordance with the project’s objectives and, if selected, you will be invited to attend a project meeting where each artist will be presented with an individual archive source. This archive will have been specifically selected by the curator based on your application from the extensive archive collection at Bath record office, Guildhall. This meeting will provide an opportunity to ask questions, meet each other and discuss anything in relation to the project. It is anticipated these archives will form an initial stimulation point for exploring your own ideas and conducting further research if appropriate. Keen for a wide range of unique interpretations to the archive material the only restriction insisted is for your work to connect in someway to the archive you have been given.

Consistent communication via social media, emails and regular group critiques will be essential to develop ideas, reflect on progress and provide feedback throughout the duration of the project duration. It is expected that there will be a close working relationship with the curator and other participating artists.

Free submission, email outofthearchive@fringeartsbath.co.uk, deadline 14/03/16.
