We’re so pleased to invite you to the solo exhibition by Ellie Thompson, sharing her work with you after a winter residency at 44AD artspace. Ellie’s work was exhibited in FaB’s Bath Open Art Prize in October 2022, and she was selected by Katie O’Brien as the winner of the 44AD Solo Exhibition Opportunity from among the 67 Artists exhibiting alongside her.

FaB are so looking forward to the public seeing the work which has emerged from Ellie’s residency time, and are really proud of Elie’s hard work and creative exploration. Ellie has thoroughly embraced her residency and this exhibition opportunity. We’re also really grateful to Katie O’Brien, Project Director at 44AD artspace, for your generosity, and the support you and your studio members offer through your input, time, and engaging warmth.

Join us for We are injury, an exhibition of soft sculpture installation by Ellie Thompson. Recipient of the 44AD gallery award for her entry in Fringe Arts Bath (FaB) Bath Open Art Prize 2022, Ellie has been resident at the 44AD studios working towards her exhibition.

Ellie Thompson consistently exercises her hapless characters. Her interest in schadenfreude and a cartoonish sense of humour informs each of her soft sculptures. Her characters are at once extinct and alive, forever stuck in a sticky situation. The flightless bird is of particular interest to Ellie, and the only fabric she uses is felt.

Meet the Artist : Ellie will be at the gallery on Sat 04 Feb 12-5pm and Sun 05 Feb 1-4pm.
