Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2016: open call for Curators

Opportunities for aspiring curators: do you have an idea for an exhibition or event?

Fringe Arts Bath Festival is calling out to aspiring curators offering the opportunity to devise and organise a show as part of the FaB Festival 2016.
Anyone can apply with any level of experience: students, graduates, artists... This is a local/national/international call for interest.

We look for challenging & fresh concepts

FaB is a good test-bed for the new, wonderful and sometimes odd. We are open to suggestions and encourage you to think outside the box!

FaB curators’ shows can include: performance, intervention, installation, multi-media and video work, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture and all disciplines in between.

Curating a show for FaB is a great chance to gain experience in this competitive field, to realise your own exhibition or event, to make new contacts and network. In past years FaB has initiated exchanges between artists and curators from Manchester, Swansea, Oxford, Bath, Poland, Canada and beyond.

Selection by committee will take place in November, those selected will be invited to attend a curator’s meeting after which your show will be advertised in our December call out to artists.

FaB will offer you admin support, practical advice through regular meetings, mentoring from past curators and exhibition space.

Deadline Friday 6th November 2015

GET IN TOUCH AND TELL US ABOUT YOUR IDEAS! Submit a 500 word proposal detailing the underpinning themes with supporting images (optional) and CV, all formatted as PDF or Word Doc.
Email to submission@fringeartsbath.co.uk  or post a hard copy to:

FaB 2015 saw our visitor numbers break 8,000 across 35 events and exhibitions housed in 6 venues in the center of the city.

Bath is located in the South West of England with good transport links, has a thriving art scene and plays host to many international festivals throughout the year; but we are the only visual arts extravaganza.

Please be aware FaB cannot offer funding at this time, but can cover some expenses agreed in advanced. We are a volunteer-run, non-profit registered company.

Fringe Arts Bath’s 2016 festival: Friday 27th May to Sunday 12 June 2016.
