My work is concerned with making invisible magnetic field lines visible. I work with ferrous metals to reveal the delicate and complex shapes created by magnetism. The drawings are formed by layering ferrite magnets to create geometric patterns. Iron filings are added and permanently fixed to a substrate using silicone. The ferrite magnets are removed but an intricate illustration of the magnetic field lines remains. The works I am submitting for Hidden (2019) are framed magnetic field drawings, which illustrate the power and hidden intricacies of magnetism.
