Noise-makers, sound artists + experimental musicians of Bath, Tse Tse Fly need you!
Tse Tse Fly Middle East at LIVE - Fringe Arts Bath 2018
- Celebrated experimental arts platform Tse Tse Fly Middle East to create an event for Fringe Arts Bath Festival.
- Chance for locally-based artists and performers to get involved.
London-based experimental arts platform Tse Tse Fly Middle East have announced that they will be putting together a very special live event for Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2018. Mirroring the events that the platform produces in the UK and abroad, the night will feature curated short films from artists based in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent followed by three live experimental music performances. However, rather than showcasing performances from the Tse Tse Fly collective, for this unique event the live performers will be drawn from Bath and the surrounding areas.
So if you’re a locally-based sound artist and/or experimental musician and you either have roots in the Middle East, Africa or the Indian subcontinent, or have strong socio-political threads to your work, then Tse Tse Fly Middle East’s founder Simon Coates wants to hear from you. Coates will sift through the applicants and choose three acts to work with in the run-up to the event. He’ll then help them prepare for their live performance set with Tse Tse Fly Middle East on June 2nd at the Walcot Chapel in central Bath as part of LIVE FaB 2018.
If you fit the criteria and would like to be considered please send Simon an email at info@tsetseflymiddleeast.org, with links to your audio work, any video or photos you think relevant (no attachments please), website (or social media accounts) plus a line of two about why you’d like to get involved. Applications from solo performers and collectives (of up to four members) are welcome to apply. You must also have at least some live performance experience and a clear idea about the work you’d like to perform on the night. Each live set will be around thirty minutes in length. Unfortunately we’re unable to cover costs, however this does represent a great opportunity to work with one of the UK’s most unique arts platforms. Closing date for applications is midnight May 10th 2018.
