fab 2011 is here!

Wow! What a show we have in store for you this year. Fringe Arts Bath is Bath’s biggest annual celebration of visual arts with a rich and varied selection of individual, group shows and interventions though out the city during the Bath Fringe Festival.

Our main space this year, the FAB Officers Club on Stall Street, will house a mega mix of group and curated shows. Highlights are the FAB invited curated shows We Live in Public, The Collective and Universals.
We Live in Public aims to examine the various ways in which artists are responding to a culture of ever-increasing surveillance. It hopes to reveal the sometimes futile nature of this surveillance and the absurd fact that playing reality back to ourselves, as is, becomes a form of entertainment.

The Collective and Universals explore and contemplate collections and the act of collecting, featuring work from new and more established practitioners. As part of The Collective exhibition we are honoured to be able to invite British photographer and collector Martin Parr to give a talk at the newly reopened Holburne Museum. Check our website for more information – as he may even have some work in the show.

We are also showcasing the results of our first collaboration with Keynsham Arts, celebrating Keynsham and its creative side.
We also welcome FOTONOW mobile camera obscura, the Camper Obscura, which will reside in Stall Street then tour to Keynsham.

None of these projects would be possible with out the generous support of Bath and North East Somerset council so we thank them very much.
We would also thank Mowbray Woodwards for their generous sponsorship

Pop along and join us for the prize ceremony of the very first FAB art prize The Real Bath Arts Prize on the 28 May from 6pm at the Officers Club, The exhibition will show the best entries from this year’s competition, prizes to be awarded by the Mayor and much more.

P.S. Don’t forget to head down to Kingsmead Square on Sunday 5 June 12–6pm to enjoy Bedlam Sunday and bag yourself an art bargain at the FAB Art Fair.
